🌸 Fasting & Vrat Guide
Ekadashi Fasting Rules, Parana Timings & Vrat Vidhi
Ekadashi (एकादशी) is observed on the 11th day of both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha lunar fortnights. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, observing Ekadashi cleanses mind and body while bestowing spiritual merits.
1. Core Fasting Rules (व्रत नियम)
- Avoid grains (rice, wheat, pulses) and onion/garlic completely.
- Fasting begins at sunrise on Ekadashi and concludes during Parana time on Dwadashi.
- Permissible foods (फलाहार): Fruits, milk products, sabudana, kuttu flour, and sendha namak.
2. What is Parana (व्रत पारण)?
Parana means breaking the fast after sunrise on Dwadashi day. Breaking fast during Hari Vasara (the first quarter of Dwadashi tithi) must be strictly avoided.
